Bogs

Bogs are distinctive wetland ecosystems, waterlogged and nutrient-poor, where the decay of organic matter is suppressed. Over thousands of years, this leads to the accumulation of thick layers of peat, primarily from Sphagnum moss, creating unique, often acidic, landscapes. These ancient environments are vital carbon sinks and host specialized life.
