+A geographic pole is one of two points on a planet's surface where its [Axis of Rotation](/wiki/axis_of_rotation) intersects the surface. These fixed points, the [North Pole](/wiki/north_pole) and South Pole, mark the planet's northernmost and southernmost extremes of rotation.
