+An **Ice Giant** is a type of [Giant Planet](/wiki/giant_planet) primarily composed of elements heavier than hydrogen and helium, often referred to as "ices" (water, methane, and ammonia). Unlike [Gas Giants](/wiki/gas_giant), these distant worlds have a substantial icy mantle above a small rocky core, surrounded by thick, cold atmospheres.
