-Private servers on [Roblox](/wiki/roblox) entered beta testing on December 14, 2014, under the name "VIP servers." They were officially launched to the public three days later, on December 17, 2014. VIP Servers were renamed to Private Servers on July 15, 2020. Starting April 9, 2015, developers began earning 70% of the [Robux](/wiki/robux) that players spend on purchasing VIP Servers. VIP Servers also became available for community-owned experiences on June 16, 2016. Since their introduction, additional features have been added, such as a "friends allowed" checkbox, allowing server owners to easily open their private server exclusively to their [Friends](/wiki/friends). Another significant addition was the option to automatically renew private servers every 30 days using [Robux](/wiki/robux), provided the owner has sufficient funds. There was also a "clan access" feature that enabled specific friendly and enemy [Clans](/wiki/clan) to join, but this feature is believed to have been removed due to its age and absence from current [Roblox](/wiki/roblox) interfaces.
