The Society of Jesus, or Jesuits, is a Catholic religious order founded by Ignatius of Loyola in 1540. Dedicated to serving God and the Church, they are renowned for their work in education, missionary endeavors, and intellectual pursuits. Members take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, with a special vow of obedience to the Pope.
