Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic

+The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR) was one of the 15 constituent republics of the [Soviet Union](/wiki/soviet_union), existing from 1922 until its dissolution in 1991. It was a foundational member of the United Nations and a vital industrial and agricultural heartland within the [Eastern Bloc](/wiki/eastern_bloc). Its collapse heralded the emergence of an independent Ukraine.
